A NARROW ESCAPE.

On their way to the station after the football match on Wednesday, the Okaiawa team passed through town in a three horse brake, and although Devonstreet was fairly nvoll thronged with vehicles, the thoughtless lads raised a sories of mighty yells which so startled the horses in an oxpress that they took flight and collided with a light trap, which was overturned. Fortunstily no one was in the cart at the time, or in all probability a serious, if not fatal, result would have ensued, The frequent recurrence of this reprehensible practice of teams j giving vent to ear-splitting yells in the centre of the town is a matter that should be tackled by the authorities before someone is killed or injured for life.
