A SENBATIONAL FIRE
EXPLOSION OF GAS IN A THEATRE. [PEE PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, August 15. . llather an exciting incident is reported from Kaihu, Northern Wairoa. The Ohristchurch Kinematograph Company were giving an exhibition to a well-filled house, when the gas bag burst and set fire to the Company's pictures and to the ball. Fortunately the hall was well provided with means of exit, and people lost no tiino in getting out through the doors and windows. The hall stands near the railway line, and a hose was secured and water poured on tho lire from a tank for supplying locomotives. The Company saved their machine, but lost their pictures, which they value at £4OO. lhe flooring of the hall is also ruined.
