At a meeting of the School Committee held on Monday evening, a letter was read from the Education Board, stating that Miss King had been appointed pupil teacher in place of Miss Fitness, removed to Waverley, and Miss Brunt in place of Miss Eccleafield. . seems a great pity these changes take jp,lsbe wfcen the examinations will >be in about six or seven weeks, as it must materially affect the working of the school in the different standards. Miss Fitness is a very able teacher, and will be much missed. The new schoolroom for the infants is all but completed, and will hold about 100 children. A. concert is to be given in "the room on Moficfay evening next, when it will be formally opened by Mr. B. C. Robbins, a member of the Board, Rev. Ross, of Turakina, will address the children, Mr, Ross is the oldest member of the Wanganui Education Board. The charge to the {longert, including refreshments, is only one shilling, and the proceeds are to go towards purchasing material for introducing the kindergarten system of education in the school. School concerts here always take well, and there will doubtless be a large attendance on this occasion. Mr. G, W, Tayler, Chairman of the School Committee, will take the chair at eight o'clock.

At the S.M. Court, held to-day, E. | Hansen appeared to aiiswer to a judg- ] ment summons brought by Mr. R. A. Adams. Claim was for goods supplied amounting to XI6 odd. Mr. Mi Jdleton appeared for judgment creditor, and Mr. Matthews for debtor. It transpired, in course cf evidence, that the debtor was owner of freehold property to the valuo of about £9OO, upon which was a mortgage for £l%p, Mr. Stanford, iS.M, spoke very strongly of the conduct of the debtor, and ordered piyment of amount within one month ; in default three months' imprisonment in New Plymouth Gaol. There were no other cases of any importance.
