MONTGOMERY'S KINEMATOGRAPH AND CONCERT COMPANY.
The above popular company, which has been playing with great success in the South, will open a two nights season in the Theatre Royal next Friday evening, the 29th instant. Speaking of the company the Dunedin Star says: —"The machine shown at the Princess Theatre by the Montgomery Kinematograph and Concert Company is, undoubtedly, the best machine shown i» this city, the largeness of the pictures being remarkable, and is a great improvement on the effect of the picture, It must be very gratifying to the management to see the public recognise the fact, and' that they are being rewarded nightly by packed houses. The war pictures shown are the be§t Nye have seen, and fairly roused the Jarge audience'to a patriotic spirit. _ The best picture, and one that comes in for rousing cheers, was that of Buller's troops on the way to Colenso. The New Zealand Contingent with Major Robin to the front, .Battle of Glehcoe," Armoured Train Captured, Boer attack on a British' position, anel others too numerous to particularise met with ringing cheers. The concert portion of the programme is far above Che average, and in Mr. Harry Hall the company possess a comedian of the first water, his singing fairly sending the audjencg into convulsions. The Giant sheatrephone, ISdjsqn's latest achievement, also came in for its sharo of merit, This machine sings songs and plays band selections much : louder than if the actual performers were before fche audience in person, j The box plan is open at Giljnqur'B, ] where seats may be reserved. 1
