(PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, June 21. At the Supreme Court to-day, Masefield claimed £5Ol damages from Craig for libel. Both parties were candidates at the recent licensing election. Craig advertised: " I will not resign, and afterwards be compelled to take my seat as one of the present brewern' candidates have done." The plaintiff pleaded that this meant that he wa>under the thumb of the brewere, whiltthe defendant said it had no such meaning. Judgment was for defendant, with costs on the hif>h«st scale.
