ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
(PER TRUSS ASSOCIATION.) Wejllikgton, May 2, A sad accident happened on the train from the Lower Hutt this evening. Mr. T. A. Wallace, a resident of Greytown North, who was journeying to town with his wife, after attending the races, stepped from a carriage before the train stopped at-Ngahauranga, and was dragged under the following carriage. His left leg was completely severed, and the right leg so mutilated that no doubt amputation will be necessary.
The railway authorities are, by eyewitnesses, acquired of all blame. The sufferer received every attention, and was removed to the hospital. His recovery is doubtful.
