THE ALLEGED ABSCONDING CASE IN AUCKLAND.
(PBR PRBSS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, May 2. E. N. Holloway was committed for trial on a charge of theft of £772, the property of the Public Trustee. It is alleged that he received a cheque for the amount, representing a fixed deposit and accrued interest, and went to the Post Office Savings Bank and obtained the postmaster's open cheque for the sum, representing that the Trustee wanted the money for disbursement that afternoon. The accused is then supposed to have cashed the cheque and left for Sydney, where he was arrested.
