[PBB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, April 21. At a meeting of the local Trades Unions, promoted by delegates now here for the purpose of putting matters on a basis, an agreement was arrived at that politics ought to be eliminated from the Wellington Trades Council, and a resolution was passed in favour of the Unions affiliating with the Council; also that a Committee should be formed for the purpose of dealing with politics only. The Secretary for Education,, who has been on tour through the island, found the natives very eager to get technical schools and ready to support them. Three have been sanctioned so far, on the East Coast, in the King Country, and at Hokianga. The Wanganui natives are too scattered, and the system of apprenticing would probably be preferable for thern. The working of native village schools on the whole Mr, Hogben found very commendable, and their influence decidedly good. A man named Penny, cook at Hillersden station, 13 miles from Blenheim, has been missing since Wednesday. He went out rabbit poisoning in a rough country and never returned. He was 24, and formerly a ship's steward at Wellington.
