A FURTHER ADJOURNMENT. [PEB PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WEllington, March 23. In the Magistrate's (Jours this afternoon, the charge preferred against John Deighton of murdering his infant daughter began. Mr. Jellicoe defended accused. Dr. Mackin, who examined the body after the murder was reported, was the only witness examined, and a further adjournment was made for a week. The greater portion of tho afternoon was occupied in an argument as to the admission of certain notes made by Dr. Martin, and statements to him by accused. There were one or two sharp passages between the Magistrate and Mr. Jellicoe, the latter at one time threatening to withdraw from the case, but eventually he cooled down on Mr. Hu.elden, S.M., saying he was not going to be terrified that way.
