ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
[FEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Blenheim, March 22. A lad named George Crawford, aged 14, was found drowned in the Wairau River, near a Maori pah. The lad went on the river in a punt, and it is supposed the punt captizad or he became Hurried and jumped out. No one actually witnessed the accident, which is the more inexplicable as deceased was a good swimmer. SERIOUS ACCIDENT AT NGAIRU.
A painful accident occurred on Friday at the Sash and Door Company's Ngaire mill. One of the employees named Fredk. Fohrman, about 25 years of age, was jicking logs on to a saw frame when the log canted the wrong way and crushed him heavily against another log, inflicting serious internal injuries. Dr. Paget, of Stratford, was quickly on the spot, and did all that was possible for the sufferer, who, by his advice, was removed to the New Plymouth Hospital, where, on arrival, he was promptly attended to. From enquiries late in the evening we were informed that the unfortunate man was doing as well as could be expected.
