OKATO.
[from oub own correspondent.] St. Patrick's Day was observed here, and the township largely took holiday to join in the sports organised by the Catholic Church. Clouds gathered threateningly, but the weather held fine, and an enjoyable day was spent. On Sunday, 18th, Harvest Thanksgiving services were held in both the Episcopal and Wesleyan churches. They were tastefully decorated, and were attended by good congregations. The Wesleyan services were continued on Monday evening, when the church was crowded to its fullest capaoity, seats having to be placed in the aisles. Musical items were rendered, recitations given, and the thanksofferings sold. The proceeds weie far in advance of any previous year. Rev. John H. White read letters of apology from some who were compulsorily absent, but had sent contributions. The show of fruit, vegetables, poultry, etc., was evidence of generous devising, and the ready purchase at good prices was a further evidence of general goodwill. Refreshments were served at the close.
The Bishop of the Diocese administered the rite of confirmation to a good number of candidates at the Episcopal Cburch on Monday afternoon.
