In the aetion Dr. Gibbs versus Mr. Graham, member for Nelson, for alleged libel in connection with an advertisement and speech last election, claiming .£IOOO, Messrs. Gully andPittappeared for plaintiff and Messrs. Skerjett and' Fell for defendant. Mr. Skerrett raised a nonsuit point, and the Chief Justice nonsuited the claim for slander, reser-' ving the right of appeal. In respect to libel, for which £SOO is claimed, the jury were unaMe to agree after four hours' absence, and were discharged. The case will be referred to the next session.

Tho case of Gi'bs versus the proprietors of the Colonist, claiming £IOOO under .simi'arcircumstances,a:Bo stands over till nest session, the Chief Justice leaving on Monday morning.
