To-day is St. Patrick's Day. A holiday will be observed at the Government offices.
Messrs. Wardell Bros.,grocers, Wellington, were fined £5 and costs £2 9s for issuing tea coupons.
The Indraghiri left Auckland for Wellington at 6 p.m. on Friday. We are in receipt of a report of the Inglewood Athletic Sports held on Thursday. We regret that owing to the sports not having been advertised in our columns we do not see our way to publish the results.
Our readers are reminded of the harvest thanksgiving services which are to be held in the Whiteley Memorial Church to-morrow. Large congregations, it is anticipated, will be present. The decorations are expected to be equal to any past effort, an active committee being busily engaged during this week making all necessary arrangements. Batepayers are reminded that harbour rates unpaid by Monday, 19th inst., will be sued for immediately, with an additional 10 per cent, into the bargain. On Friday, at the Police Court, W. Boyle was charged with persistent cruelty to his wife, who asked that a separation order be granted. Mr. Weston appeared for complainant, who stated that her husband had frequently ill-treated her, being especially violent when under the influence of drink. No defence was made, and the order of separation was granted—Mrs. Boyle to havo custody of tkp children and defendant to pay 15s per week. o A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Municipal Association lias been convened for April 2 at Wellington. Amongst business is to arranga a general conference to consider improvements in health legislation; to consider the Municipal Corporation Bill and take action relating thereto; and to examine legislation proposed for local bodies.
The illustrations in the last edition o£ Jhe Auckland Weekly Neics include a number of views taken at the Waitara Hegatta, and one of the gathering in New I'lymputii on the day the news of Orouje's surrender was received. The views of the war are admirable.
The Registrar of the Supreme Court of New Zealand on Thursday granted probate of the will of the late A. W. 1' . Halcombe, of (Jrenui, to A. F. Halcombe, the executor named in the will. Mr. Koy appeared in .-support of the application.
The Primate of New Zealand will conduct an ordination in St. Mary's Church to-morrow morning at 11 o'clock. Morning prayer will be *aid at 10 o'clock. The Primate will also preach at the evening service. Mrs. Ensign Ramage will have control of all meetings at the Salvation Army tomorrow. 7 a.m., " A Spiritual Breakfast."
