POLLARD'S OPERA COMPANY.
t " THE QKISHA." It is doubtful if any theatrical novelty was looked forward to more than "The Geisha." For the last two years, or more, it has been the most talked of ; piece on the stage. The score is to be found in almost every drawing-room, ; so that the music is familiar to most ' people. That it will be seen here tomorrow night to the best advantage is proved by the fact that the combination presenting it is undoubtedly the strongest that has ever appeared upon a local stage. When to the Pollard Company of 70 is added such famous artistes as Miss Jennie Opie and Mr. William Paull, the strength of the attraction is apparent. Back this combination of talent with charming characteristic scenery, exquisite native costumes and effects, and the result must be almost perfection. The career of " The Geisha " can be only described as sonsational. It enjoyed the most fiuccesEful run of any modern comic opera on tho occasion of its first production in London, and it has since been revived with even greater succsss. In Melbourne and Sydney its production was signalised as an emphatic success, and in the northern cities of this colony it has proved equally victorious. Twelve nights in Wellington and 10 in Obristchurcb speaks volumes as to its attractiveness. There is almost certain to be a crowded house >is for month- past phygoers have been on the tip-too of expectation regarding this celebrated work.
