MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS.
Received 6,9.15 a.m. London, March 5. A list of the names of all the Natal Dutch who are serving with the Boers was discovered at Bulwana Hill. (Received 7, 1.50 a.m.) London, March 6. The Emperor of Japan has congratulated the Queen upon the victories in South Africa. QUERULOUS GISBORNEITES, Gisbobne, March 6. The Mayor of Gisbome, at the request of a number of residents, telegraphed to the Premier complaining of inaccuracies in the Agent-General's war cables, especially that givingthe number of Boers in the field and the British and Boer losses. Mr. Seddon replied as follows: —" Your telegram received. In the main, the Agent-General's information has proved correct. His statement of loss some time ago was ultimately borne out by official information. We cannot judge at this distance ; therefore we should not come to hasty conclusions. I have reason to believe that he gets his information from a very good source.—Seddon."
