PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY.

[PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION.]

Cheistchurch, February 20. At the Presbyterian General Assembly this morning, the Chairman stated that an Anti-opium League had been formed, and wa-s doing good work. A good measure of success had attended the work of the Chinese catechists. The question of the appointment of a junior clerk was ordered to be sent down to the presbyteries for consideration, and to report to next Assembly. The Bible-in-schools report was of the usual nature, and provoked little discussion. The Assembly affirmed its former position. A motion that the next General Assembly of the church be held in Wanganui was carried unanimously.
