BRITISH BY-ELECTION.
«. . [PER press association.] (Received 8, 9.40 a.m.) London, February 7. At the by-election for York, to fill the vacancy caused by Lord Charles Beresford's retirement on rejoining the Navy, George Denison Faber (Conservative) polled 6248, against Murray's (Liberal) 4818. The result of the election is asaribed to existing dissatisfaction at what is regarded as the inopportune Opposition tactics.
