REINFORCEMENTS FOR GENERAL FRENCH.
(Received 7, 5.10 p.m.) Capetown, January 6. The Household Cavalry, the 20th Field Battery, and the Ist Sussex Regiment are to temporarily reinforce Major-General French. The plain to the northwards is now clear of the enemy, while the movements of the mounted troops towards the south are now effected with more freedom than heretofore.
