TIMBER NO DEARER

Gisborne Building Rates

Press Association —Copyright. Wellington, July 2.

Figures comparing the cost of timber at Gisborne with the cost at Wellington and Auckland were given by the Parliamentary Under-Secretary in charge of housing, Mr J. A. Lee, in the course of a statement to-day referring to the apparent high cost of building at Gisborne, as indicated by the recent tenders for State houses. Mr Lee submitted a table of prices showing that the cost of timber at Gisborne was almost the same as at both Wellington and Auckland, and in some cases substantially lower. Gisborne, lie said, appeared in this respect to be in as favourable a position as Auckland or Wellington.
