FRENCH CABINET CRISIS Financial Powers Bill Press Association —Copyright. Paris, June 2.It is officially annonced that (the Government has resigned. The Senate m-et ait 11.30 P- m . and considered the Government s demand for special financial powers, which the Chamber of Deputies had already conceded, but concerning which ia compromise was drau.ed in order to meet the Senate’s objections.

The President, .M. Albert Lebrun, asked the Radical-Socialist leader, M. Chautemps, to form a Ministry. M. Chauitempt’ has reserved his reply until he consults his supporters.

M. Blum will attempt to reconstruct the Popular -Front, with Radi-cal-Socialist predominant. If he fails M. Edourard Herriott and M. Albert Daladier may be summoned. M. Blum has agreed to use all hit influence while- the negatations are proceeding to avert a general strike or financial disorder when the markets open.

After the Government’s resignation the Chamber of Deputies resumed its sitting. M. Herriot announced that the Government had no furtner communication to make, upon which ok Chamber adjourned. It is believed that MM. Sarraut, Chautemps, Daladier or Herriot may be Prime Minister.

M. Lebrun announced that he intended to find a Prime Minister by noon to-day. However, it is predicted elsewhere ithat no solution is likely for two or three days.

.M. Blum in a statement said: "1 decided to resign when I saw ilt was impossible to overcome the Senate’s opposition. I appeal to the Popular Front members throughout France co maintain complete calm. It is essential that the transference of power should be done calmly and pacifically.” The. German Press considers M. Blum’s.’ resignation was long overdue, says a Berlin message.
