Sergeant T. Brenchley, of New Plymouth, is relieving >at the Stratford police station during the absence of Sergeant C. M. Anniss through illness. Mr L. Ernie Clark, who recently flew solo from England to New Zealand, has been appointed an assist-ant-instructor to the Canterbury Aero Club. Miss Pat Mason, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs Coupe, left for Palmerston North yesterday. She was accompanied by Mrs R. Stokes, who will spend a few days in Palmerston North with friends. Mr W. A. Hewitt was welcomed as a new director by the chairman, Mr Alex Hunter, at the annual meeting of the Farmers’ Co-operative Organisation Society at Hawera on Saturday. He came to the society as general manager in its darkest days and gave valuable service, his intimate knowledge of the whole business making him an acquisition to the strength of the board, said Mr Hunter.
