THE FIVE CHARLADIES
Have you ever seen a withered old dame in “elastic-sides” wielding a mop -and bucket and executing an intricate “Spring-Song” dance? In “Soft Lighi s and Sweet Music” the non-stop revue coming io the King’s Theatre shortly, there is an act thalt feaures no fewer .than five of these surprise-ladies. It’s really more rthan an >2ct—it’s a first-class riot. The five are employed in cleaningup the Recording Studios of a Television Company. The old dears reckon they’re quite capable of doing their stuff —and without an audience, too. Given a few spicy wisecracks, some mop-urnd-bucket effects, a set of bag-pipes and marvellously agile feet, the Five Charladies achieve the miraculous. And it ie funny? It is hardly necessary tto repeat that it approaches a riot.
