SEQUEL TO CONFERENCE
VON NEURATH’S VISIT DIFFERENCES WILL BE OVERCOME Initiative With Mr Chamberlain Press Association —Copyright. (Received 1 p.m.) London, June 17. The Australian Associated Press political writer learns that Brilbain's invitation to Herr von Neurath may be taken as a direct sequel (to the Imperial Conference discussions on the International situation. Mr Stanley Baldwin, Mr Neville Chamberlain, and Mr Anthony Eden having explained, with 'the utmost frankness, Britain’s grave concern at the, European tension, then sought the viewpoints of the Dominions and how some approach mighlt be ma<R towards., the appeasement of it. It soon became evident that the Dominions were convinced thalt the first move must be an attempt to overcome, the Angil/o-Gcirman deadlock. Mr Chamberlain, whose extraordinarily businesslike grip on all the greelt problems profoundly impressed every Dominion representative, instantly responded, and the Dominions are wejl satisfied to leave the initiative, coupled wilth ultimate developments, in his hands. Whilst the Dominions desire thalt Britain should attempt to overcome the Anglo-German deadlock which hadi much to do wilth the invibation to von Neurath, it transpires that their att.l ude' to ithe conquest of Abyssinia is largely instrumental in altering Britain’s intefltlons regarding recognition. lit appears that Mr Anthony Eden considered the time is approaching to make a move towards the de jure recognition of the conquest as a prelude Ito bettering Anglo-Italian relations. But Mr Savage's, and in a lesser degree the others, insistence that the aggressor should ncto be recognised has resulted in Britain reconsidering the situation instead of initiating recognition with, which Ithe Dominions would disapprove.
