SOUND POSITION Debt Gradually Diminishing In congratulating Mr T. R. Anderson, chairman of the Stnatford County Council, on his re-election to the position at to-day’s annual meeting, Or. Pitt expressed pleasure at the financial position of the County. He Stated that in 1927 the debt on the County was £144,000, and in (ten years it had been reduced to £lOl,000. “We are gradually getting out of debt but lit is a question whether we should make ourselves entirely free ■ and hand over an unencumbered | County to someone else,” said Cr. ■ Pitt. | He went on to refer ’to the cheap j borrowing nates at the present time i and expressed the opinion th alb ’ was more economical to borrow i money to renew an old road than to ' try and do the work out of revenue.
