Skitropp, B. Hutchen, G. Jensen, W. H. Were, L. Stanford, W. Vickers, and 8. Pitt. The question of repairs to roads in the west portion of the north riding was again discussed when Councillor Pitt asked that a sum of £lOOO be granted for the purpose. The chairman said that unless the north riding ratepayers were prepared to come into line and pay the same rates as other ridings he would not agree to the proposal. Councillor Vickers: It is nice for the ratepayers to know that. The chairman: Is that an insinuation? Councillor Vickers: No. The chairman said that all that he desired was to be fair in the matter. “The sooner riding accounts are i abolished the better,” Councillor Vickers remarked. There was no resolution before the meeting and if was just around the table discussion said the chairman in proceeding to deal with other business. Advice was received that the 1937 conference of the New Zealand Counties Association would be held at Wellington August 25, 26 and 27. The chairman was appointed to represent the council.
