EMPIRE IMMIGRATION
GENERAL BOOTH’S VIEWS SALVATION ARMY INVESTIGATION Dominions Would Favour Resumption . ...... Press Association—Copyright. (Received 11.30 a.m.) Lohdbii, June 17. In a letter to The Times, General Evangeline Booth states thait a preliminary examination of the reports of the Salvation Army investigation of migrer.fon throughout the Empire reveals, a widespread desire in the Dominions to see British immigration resumed. An import amt proviso is that the Dominions must provide a reasonably assured market for exportable produce froln the United Kingdom. The general tocial amenities, togethed with the benefits of unemployment insurance and other social services are more than offset by the fear of a European war. There is a growing feeling at Home and overseas that it would be good business from an Empire standpoint if the British Government gave a lead, and make it clear that no wellconsidered scheme would be held up owing to lack of money.
