CHEAPER PETROL
REDUCTION AT STRATFORD To Take Effect From To-day The cost of petrol at Stratford will be reduced by id a gallon to-day. The price will now be 2s 2d for standard grades and 2s 3d for super grades, the same figures as were in operation before the imposition of the extra halfpenny on April 1. Advice of the reduction was received from oil companies yesterday by petrol resellers. For odd gallons it has been the practice to charge the full penny increase, which has meant that for single gallons the price of super grade, for instance, has been 2s 4d instead of 2s 3Jd. No reason has been given for the reduction, but protests at the increase, which applied to Stratford alone, have recently been made by the petrol resellers. Automobile Association branches, the Stratford Chamber of Commerce and various dairy companies. Representatidns were also made to the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Industries and Commerce, by Mr W. J. Polson, M.P.
