RARE OPERATION
EXTRAORDINARY CASE Skeleton In Baby Press Association—Copvrlght. London, May 26. The rarest operation in, surgery will be performed next week in , Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Portland, Oregon, U.S.A., on 6. balby girl of thirteen months. When she was born the complete skeleton of her dead twin was found by X-ray photographs to have developed in her abdominal cavity. The operation, called teratomla, will be performed to remove the twin. Its success, experts declare, depends on the possible formation of adhesions. Dr. Richard Dillehunt, head of the University of Oregon Medical School, said: “The growth was caused by cellular division, occurring shortly after conception. Records shoyf occasionally a halt-developed twin faside’ another’s body, but never before has a fullydeveloped one been known.” The affected child ‘is normal In every other way.
