It is believed' that the Italian brothers Carlo Roselli and Sabattino Roselli, whose bullet-riddled bodies were found in a wood near Alencon (France), were lured to their deaith by political gangsters. Carlo received a mysterious letter asking for an appointment, which he kept, accompanied by his brother.
Strands of hair under the finger nails of .Sabattino provide one of th slend'er clues to -the murderers, and also indicate that Sabattino fought desperately for life. Carlo v i ii_ parently killed instantly. A post-mortem examination proved that both were st-abbed to death Carlo had two wounds but Sabaittluo had seven, one severing the jugular vein. It is believed that the flaggr found in the vicinity was not used in the crime but was left as a w-arn ing. The political character of the crime is believed to have been established by 2000 francs being left in Sabattino’s pocket and Carlo's cheque book being untouched. An Iflal’pfli who was arrested has been released owing to his proving an alibi. The wife of Carlo Rosselli, whom Mussolini regarded as his greatest enemy owing to her constant exposure of the Duce’s most cherished ■aecrets, was' an Englishwoman, Marion Cave, daughter of the headmas_ ter of Harrow Boys’ High School. She collapsed' on hearing the news of the tragedy, crying, “I knew It would happen,”
