SHOW ASSOCIATION’S DIFFICULTIES

The position which has arisen in connection with a Magisterial decision that the association must pay its former secretary arrears of salary amounting to £123 was again discussed at to-day’s meeting of the executive committee of the Wanganui Agricultural and Pastoral Association when a letter was received from the inspector of factories, Mr. S. E. McGregor, demanding immediate payment of £BO and the payment of the balance by July 20. The financial position of the association was discussed and the auditor pointed out that they had only £26 with which to carry on. It wassuggested that the show should be suspended in the meantime, but the chairman, Mr. W. Craig, pointed’ out that by this action the association would lose its dates'.

Mr. A. R. Donaldson said the association was up against it. They had mad® some progress in the past three years, but now had met another reverse. The association should be starting its’ campaign for the coming show, but at lhe present time they had not enough money to pay the former secretary. He thought the hurdle was top big to get,over. After further discussion, in which it was suggested that members should dig into their own pockets’, Ithe meeting was adjourned’ until Wednesday next.
