New Zealand recovered gloriously for the first time during the Hour, demonstrating their capacity to fight back. Seven wickets fell for 68 in an hour during Ithe morning, but Weir and Lowry rescued the tourists with a magnificent stand. Lowry defended stoutly, while Weir fiercely attacked' the bowling. After lunch he .topped a chanceless century, the first of the tour. A 55.1’un partnership for the last wicket was also fratifying.
