PRISON HORRORS
FIENDISH TORTURES
Reign Of Terror In Yugoslavia Press Association —Copyright. London, June 11. The latest land of terror is in Yugoslavia, according .to the Daily Herald, which claims that the prisons are full of men and women whose only offence has been to criticise the Government or the police. Even children who have visited the homes of suspects were put in prson for days or weeks.! and their parents were questioned. The Herald alleges Uv-Mt confessions were extorted from prisoners by means of ia number of tortures, including flogging, mutilation, applying eggs taken from boiling Water to the armpits, and forcing needles under the fingernails. The paper adds that men and women were treated in such a wi.'.y that they are doomed to frightful diseases throughout their lives, if they even leave tile prisons. A careless word or an attempt to resist police brutality are adequate reasons for fairest and torture.
