Melbourne, June’ 10. ’ An incorrigible criminal, John J Thomas Griffith, with a long jail re- ■ cord at Wellington and Christchurch, ! was sentenced to death alt Melbourne to-day for capital offences against women. His sentence has now - been commuted to life imprisonment. Griffith told (the court that his fath. sjr was murdered with a sandbag at I Dunedin many years ago.
