To-day’s Official Opening Function ‘"This will be the shortest preliminary speech on record,” said the Hon. P. Fraser, Acting-Prime Minister, when speaking from the dais in front of the Taranaki Co-operative Organisation Society’s new buildings In Regan Street this afternoon. Mr Fraser said he would simply open the doors and declare the building open, and speeches would be made inside, where the public were to be entertained. Prior to the Minister’s remarks, Mr A. Hunter, chairman of directors of the Society, had briefly welcomed the official visitors.

There was a large gathering of the public present at the function.
