ARRANGEMENTS FOR SEASON Good Snow Conditions On Sunday A meeting of the committee of the Stratford Mountain Club was held yesterday, the president, Mr T. Kirkwood, presiding over an attendlance of fifteen. | The New Zealand Ski Council wrote accepting the nomination of Miss J. Beale, Messrs Brian McMillan, Bruce McMillan,, P. Schweiters and C. Ambrey for the team to represent New Zealand in Australia, and stating thiait they would be considered by the selection committee. It was decided that the person in charge of the bus on a club trip should be empowered to order The but to leave the Mountain House at a specified time, not earlier than 5.30, thus enabling members who wish to return reasonably early to join the trip. This arrangement is to be in force for the winter months, and the
time will probably be extended as the days become longer. Mr Alf. Dick was elected ae an honorary member of the club. It was suggested that the number of honorary members should be increased, particularly among those who are interested in the club and in the mountain, but are not capable of active participation in the club’s activities. j A f ormer deck ion of the club not i to be approved by the New Zealand I Ski Council was rescinded, and it was I decided to apply for approval. j Mr A. I tional Park East Committee. i The club captain reported that on June 6 the first official ski-ing trip of the season took place, good tnow conditions being experienced. It is expected that future trips will be j mainly ski-ing ti ’ps. I On May 30 an enthusiastic working 'bee was held at which the construc- ' tion of was begun and almost ' completed, scrub pulled, and firewood cut and stacked. 9‘hpre are ; pproxi- ( mately 20 lockers for members’ use, 1 and these are to be allotted by ballot on application, nhe hire being 2s 6d a year. ■ It was decided to instal a pump for the purpose of raising water from the water hole to the hut, thus obviating ' the necessity of multing snow to ot>_ 1 tain water, a method wasteful buth of I time and of fuel. < A raijle to raise funds for equip- : nient of the hut is to be issued almost I immediately, and it is hoped 'that by j this means some necessary improveI cuts will .e made possible.
