Borough Elections ! (To the Editor.) Sir, —I was interested and glad to read a letter in your issue of yesterday over the name of Mr H. S. Sinclair. Mr Sinclair’s request that the Mayor call a. public meeting at which candidates for election to the Borough Council might address residents and ratepayers has much to commend it. Such a practice is, I believe, common in many boroughs and cities, and it is a practice which should have been in vogue in Stratford years ago. It has been suggested that some ! candidates may not wish to face a I public meeting; and that they cannot I talk in public. Of these I would say ! that they are unfit to take part in I local government. The trouble with I some of the present councillors is that far too often they vote at council meetings without stating any reasons for their attitude.
