BLOMFIELD DEFEATS STEIN. Lofty Blomfield beat Sammy Stein by a single fall in a professional wrestling bout at Wellington last evening. The match was very even, and, indeed, in the later stages Stein Jia.d the advantage of showing himself a quick and versatile wrestler with an active brain and a wide repertoire of holds. Blomfield, however, took the sole fall by dumping and pinning Stein in the fifth round. A big crowd watched the contest, which was fast and hearty, and was characterised by a good deal of elbow-jolt-ing and by frequent controversy between Blomfield and the referee. NAVY’S WINTER CRUISE. Bound first for Suva, where she is to embark the High Commissioner for the Western Pacific, Sir Arthur Richards. the Imperial patrol"sloop Leith left Devonport naval base yesterday to make' her annual winter cruise of the South Pacific islands. The ship will be away from Auckland for about three months and will visit nine island groups. On Saturday the flagship of the New Zealand division, H.M.S. Achilles, will leave Auckland for her winter cruise to the islands, this being the first time she has been away from New Zealand since she joined the station last year. The cruiser will go rs far as Honolulu end Fanning Island.
