FAILURE TO APPEAR Match With Schmeling Press Association —Copyright. New York, June 4. The New York Boxing Commission fined Jim Braddock, world heavyweight boxing champion, £2OO and suspended him for failure to appear at the weighing_in for his scheduled fight with Max Schmeling to-night and declared that any fighter who engaged Braddock also would b e suspended. • The Illinois Boxing Commission's co-operation was asked for, but it is considered unlikely that the Illinois Commission will interfere in the contest between Braddock and- Joe Louis on June 22. Bmddock’s £lOOO posted guarantee that he would meet Schmeling wae divided between Schmeling, who- was ready to-day, and th e Madison Square Garden authorities. Schmeling, who faithfully underwent a month's training at New York, bitterly protested at the inadequacy of the commission’s action. He demanded that the title be vacated and himself be declared the premier challenger. “Now it oily means that if Louis wins he will be champion,” he declared.
