' Five members of the Legislative i Council are due to vacate office on Thursday. They are the Hons. M. i Fagan, R. Masters, D. Buddo, R. Mei Callum and J. Trevethick. It appears > certain that Mr Fagan will be imj mediately reappointed, but it is conI sidered in Parliamentary circles that the terms of the other four are un- | likely to be extended. 1 A London cable announces the | death yesterday of Lord Kylsant, j aged 74 years, who in 1931 was senj fenced to 12 months’ imprisonment on j a charge of issuing a false prospectus 1 regarding the Royal Mail Steam PacI ket Company, of which he was fqrmI crly chairman. S'ince his release from ' prison in 1932 Lord Kylsant led a re--1 tired life. The case aroused great in- | terest at the timte and the judge, Mr ' Jutice Wright, had some comment to I make regarding the control of large : portions of a company’s assets left in j the secret disposition of a managing . authority. After sentence he appealed and was released on £lO,OOO bail.
