Arnold Bennett’s ‘Milestones’
On Tuesday evening next, in the Parish Hall, the second of this season’s evening readings will be held under the auspices of the British Drama League (Taramaki Central Area). On this occasion the local branch of the W.E.A. will be in chnYge of the programme, which will consist of the reading of "Milestones” a very fine three-act play by the late Arnold Bennett. The reading of a three-act play is something of a new departure in local circles and will prove a welcome change after frequent one-act play readings. For this reason a large audience is anticipated. "Milestones.-’ which will be remembered by the older theatregoers a£' being played in New Zealand by the Williamson firm in pre.war days—the famous Irene Browne was In 'the cast-will h p produced by Mr A. H. R. Amess, Those taking part are;— Mrs Carryer (senr), Mrs- R. Walker, Mrs R. Carryer, Miss J. Henry, Miss K. Cowan, Miss N. Burgess, Mr Amets, Mr A. H. Sherson, Mr R. Carryer, Mr C. Henderson, Mr J. Ebbett, Mr W Hall, Mr J. Anderson. Charge for admission is 1/- aud supper is free.
