WRECKED PLANE
INSPECTION VISIT Remains Set On Fire After the wreckage of tho Wellington Aero Club’s Miles Hawk monoplane, which crashed near Pembroke Road on Wednesday morning, had been inspected yesterday the remains were heaped together and set on Are. The engine was' removed to the roadway on a sledge and will be used for spare parts. ‘The instrument board, compass and several parts re. qulred for the civil inquiry were also taken away. Flight-Lieutenant I. E. Rawnsley, Wellington Aero Club instructor, and Mr D. Morphy, ground engineer at Rongotai, were early on the scene yesterday with Mr R. C. Kean, inspector of civil aircraft, Wellington, and the Western Federated (N'L) Flying Club's Miles Hawk circled the scen e before proceeding to the Stratford aerodrome, whence Mr A. Salter, ground engineer at New Plymouth, arrived with tools necessary for the dismantling of wanted parts'. Th e body of the late Mr P. J. Nathan, who was killed in the crash, arrived at Wellington last night andi the funeral took place this morning, the remains being cremated. A report from the Stratford hospital this afternoon stated that the con. dition ot the injured pilot, Mr C. H. Dunford, was quit e satisfactory.
