Enclosed in an “iron lung,” Frederick Snite, son of the Chicago millionaire, w.ho it- suffering from infantile paralysis and who must live in an iron respirator, has begun a life or death journey Io Chicago, which will cost £125,000. During the journey Suite’s life depends on th e efficiency of a portable petrol engine operating the <riant respirator. The Chinese Government is cooperating by clearing th,, lines’ for a special train in which the boy will travel to Shanghai. He will then cross to San Francisco in a specially equipped’ ;oom in the liner President Roosevelt. At San Francisco a special train will carry him to Chicago. Frederick will be. accompanied by his father, doctors, engineers' to operate the respirator, and nurses land diet experts.
