Morris, S.M., in the Police l* Court to-day, when Walter Armstrong Wilson was charged with driving a I motor ambulance in the Whangarei i Borough at a speed exceeding 30 I miles lan hour. i Mr Trimmer, for defendant, said that defendant was.* doing purely l i gratuitous work for the St. John j Ambulance, of which he was a m.?m- -• ber. Defendant’s eyes wer e actually watering when the journey was finished. The Magistrate, to the traffic inspector: Have you had trouble previously with this driver or the Sit John Ambulance? Th e Inspector, Mr J. H. Ashton: No, I have not. I would point out, however, 'that, although the ambulance is exempt from the speeding regulations, it is not so after a patient bias been placed in hospital.
