Social and PersonaL Mrs Fraser, of Foxton, is at present the guest of Mrs L. J. Furrle., Orlando Street. * * * Miss Lucy Penn will leave to-mor-row evening for Auckland, en route to Samoa. . * * * Miss Gwen Amess returned to Auckland last night to resume her studies at the University. * * * A house-warming party was helfi on Saturday afternoon at Mrs Howard's residence in Portia Street. Mrs Howard land family have just come from Midhirst to live in Stratford 1 . Those present were: Mesdames D. J. Malone, T. Wilson, M. Kovaleski, G. Lamplough Jones, W. Clarke, J; Howboski, Walsh; the Misses Fischer, M- Lamplough, T. and N. Howard. Competitions were won by Mrs G. Lamplough and Miss Howard.
The Portland Bridge Club were entertained on Monday afternoon by Mrs F. P. D. Jefferies, Brecon Road. The hostess wore a becoming frock of black lace, and had scarlet berries and chrysanthemums decorating her drawing room. The guests l were: Mesdames A. Coleman, L. H. Jardine, D. J. Malone, L. J. Furrie, Grey, Fraser, J. Cresswell and H. Heslopp.
