TUKAPA v. UNITED
LOSERS’ GOOD DISPLAY Honours To J. Sullivan There is no doubt that the changes made in placing the United team proved to be a good move on the part of the .selector. Though beaten in points, United made a brave display, and for the greater part of the spells held' the territorial advantage against their opponents. The work of the forw'ards came as a bright revelation to the spectators, and at times in both spells they swept downfield in a body, missing a score on occasions by the narrowest of margins. Tukapa depended upon their centre, the interprovincial player, Jack Sullivan, and he never let them* down. His tricky run, followed by a deceptive wriggle when collared, mystified his opponents, and he emerged from the 'tussle on many occasions to renew his progress and l gain further ground. He scored tiwo runaway tries, and handed on the bail to the other two scorers who had clear runs to the line. He stood high above any other player on the field. Tukapa had a feeble grasp on victory. in the last quarter, as the score was 12 to 8, and United were fighting hard to cross the line. But defence was turned into attack in a moment, and the Blue and White backs raced away to score and seal the victory. The Teams. United Old Boys (white, blue and gold) —W.
