Variety Of Chili Bean Securing dry pods out of a packer of mixed 1 spices, Mr J. A. Downham, of Stratford, has succeeded in growing a chili plant which, after three years, is thriving and is at present bearing ripe rod pods. It was grown in an earthenware pot in his house, and was not at any s\age placed under glass. After several failures and much patient effort, Mr Downham has grown five plants. When resident in he Argentine he saw chili bean grown on a large scale commercially, hut prior to undertaking his experiment he had made no attempt to grow them.
