Twenty-five cyclists who left, their machines on the footpath outside the GiUnd Theatre found when they came out of their machines were came out thalt their machines were missing-, having been removed by the City Council Traffic Department, which has inaugurated a -serious campaign against the practice of lelxving on footpaths in the city.. One of the inspectors was on duty until midnight restoring the machines to the owners, an'dl at the same time giving them some friendly advice. The attitude of the traffic department is that the byJays which prohibit the leaving of bicycles on the fo-otplaths must be- observed, and now that the campaign has been started 1 it "will be kept up. The cyclists who were caught will not be prosecuted tor leaving their machines on the footpath, as it is considered that the warning they received will be suffix cienti. But some of them may be prosecute® for not having rear reflectors or mudguards painted white, and it is expected -that the raid will show a profit to the council
