POWERS’ RELATIONS

ENGLAND AND GERMANY “MUST NOT DRIFT APART” Nazi Paper’s “Word To Empire Conference” Press Association—Copyright. (Received 11 a.m.) Berlin, May 24. The Allgemeine Zeitung pays i unusual attention to the Dominions in an editorial entitled: “A word to the Empire Conference.” The editorial, which is considered to represent Nazi opinion, states:— “If England and Germany drift apart tihe end must be war. Thei Dominions should realise that the attempts to undo Germany’s efforts to live as a Continental Power will not, lead to tranquility in Europe. It would be against Empire policy if Britain followed this path, “A Western Pact would be possible to-morrow if England used her influence to remove the injurious repercussions of tlhe Fran-co-Soviet Pact. The Dominions would be thankful for this, but unsympathetic if Britain served up the possibilities of a '■‘Britain’s inability to 'understand Germany? and her efforts to . persuade the Dominions to sjiare her unreasonable prejudices, i s the cause of the trouble.”
