Aged Man Awarded Damages Press Association—Copyright. Christchurch, May 24. Damages totalling £lO7l 13s 6d were awarded to Henry We ns Ley Piper, retired confectioner, aged 76, in the Supreme- Cour: to. day for injuries suffered when he was knocked over by a motor car in i city street. Th? detenHnt in the action was Mrs Annie McKenzie, wife of John Robert McKenzie, merchant, of Christchurch. The accident occurred on March 7, 1936, in Colombo Street, near Armagh Street. The car driven by Mrs McKenzzie collided with the plaintiff, who was walking. One of rlhintiff’s legs was broke? and he claimed be was caused much pain ana suffer’ng. The cllaim for £1250 general damages and £l2l 13s 6d special damages, making a total of £1371 13s 6d, i was heard before Mr Justice North--1 croft and a jury.
