VARYING ROLL
Stratford Primary School The varying roll-number of children at the Primary School was mentioned by the headmaster, Mr L. J. Furrie, at the monthly meeting of the School Commitiee last night. He s lated that he could not say definitely what was the cause, but he had no doubt it was due to the unusual number of departures and the arrivals of new families, a position, which had been in evidence in the d(strict of late. Though eighteen new pupils had been enrolled during the past quarter, no less than six had left yesterday, and from his experience for some months past he would not be surprised if there were more departures in the near future. Members of the committee confirmed the statement concerning the shifting population, pointing out that Civil Servants were continually being transferred, and the establishment of Labour Department camps also accounted to some extent for families leaving the district!
